The Application Accelerator Illustration System is a prototype of an integrated CAD environment that supports the development of application-specific integrated circuits. The current implementation features a hardware description language compiler, timing analyzer, functional simulator, waveform tracer, and data path place and route facility. The system is implemented in Smalltalk-80™. acm 
This was my second serious effort to build momentum for VLSI design after Picture Model. When we showed the system to potential user they were much more interested in how we had build so much software with such a small team. My next work was in the context of the "software productivity project"
