Eights started showing up in the affordable surplus market in the mid '70s. Jim Wilson got one going. I programmed it for the fun of it.

Morse Transeceiver queued inbound and outbound characters while a morse input/output ran in parallel with teletype read/print.

PDP-8 Simulator ran on the campus CDC 6500 allowing me to prepare executables before debugging together at Jim's house.
