This hackathon project set out to uses the phone's camera as a instrument to measure the degree to which a cutting pattern avoided unnecessary waste.

On the day of the event I chose to read uploaded pictures rather than live data from the camera. Even then I struggled reading pixels from an image which blog posts lead me to believe was easy.
Months later I suggested continuing this work to Kelley Harris as a warm up exercise for coding plugins for federated wiki. He succeeded completing the Pattern Efficiency Estimation plugin.
