Bo Leuf wrote the book, The Wiki Way, with some cooperation with me. I suggested the organization, found the publisher, and wrote the version of wiki to be included in the cd-rom. website
I had already seen that wiki would be reimplemented and further cloned many times. I saw that developers became very attached to their versions, adding many tweaks aligned with their vision of use. This, I suggested, should be the central theme of the book: tweaking your own wiki.
I had carved up the original WikiWikiWeb script several times, first as HyperPerl, then as independent functional cgi scripts. We chose the latter form to distribute with the book.
I eventually converted all of the assorted wiki sites I hosted to use the book version of wiki, with one exception, the original wiki site which still uses the original script.
